Five zones, five different jobs
Oahu is 44 miles across and we work all of it. What changes from one side to the other is not the price. It is the ground. Leeward clay opens cracks two and a half inches wide in dry season, the Ewa plain hits coral rock eight inches down, and the windward side takes 65 inches of rain a year onto soil that will not drain.
Most curbing companies publish a page per town with the name swapped and nothing else changed. We would rather write five pages that are actually different, because the ground actually is.
Windward Oahu

On windward Oahu the deciding factor is drainage. Kaneohe takes about 65 inches of rain a year onto weathered red clay that drains slowly, so a curb run along a foundation has to have gaps cast into it or it works as a dam.

Leeward Oahu sits on Lualualei clay, which the USDA records as opening vertical cracks up to two and a half inches wide in dry season. It is the most curb hostile ground on the island and it is handled with thicker bedding and tighter control joints.

On the Ewa plain, coral limestone bedrock sits only eight to twenty inches below the surface. You cannot trench into it, so base prep becomes bedding and leveling on rock rather than excavating.

Central Oahu sits on Molokai series oxisol, the red dirt. It is kaolinitic rather than smectitic, which makes it a low shrink swell clay and structurally one of the better soils on the island to build a curb on.

In town the cost driver is access, not soil. Whether the trailer and mixer can reach the work decides the price of a Honolulu curbing job more than the footage does.

Because it would be the same page with the name changed, and you would be able to tell. Kailua and Kaneohe sit on the same clay under the same rain with the same grass growing in it. Writing two different pages for them would mean making something up.
When we finish a job in a town, that town gets its own page with the photos on it and what we ran into. Until then it lives in its zone, and the zone page is the one with the real information in it.
